８０年代のエチオピアに飢餓をもたらしたのも内戦で、外国から受け取った１８億ドルの援助のうち１６億ドルが武器へと変わった。
その中にはチャリティーコンサート「ライブエイド（LIVE AID）」からの寄付金も含まれている。
